Practical

What: A Regency fantasy larp about the London social season in 1815.
When: 21–25 October 2025 and 26–30 October 2025. Arrival between 12–13 on the 21st and 26th. Departure after 10 AM on the 25th and 30th.
Where: Úsobí Castle in the Czech Republic
Language: The larp will be played in English.
Sleeping: Will be in shared rooms of 2–5 people. Rooms are as a rule in-game (with the exception of the Garners who have the possibility of an offgame bedroom) and are divided by families and gamechangers. This means they can be mixed-gender.
Accessibility: The larp takes place in a historic house. The floors have steps leading up to them, and the upper floors are not wheelchair accessible.
Food: Will be provided during the larp. In general it will be vegetarian, and we will do our best to cater to different allergies and diets.
Alcohol: Real alcohol will be served at the larp (but most likely, it will be diluted). However, there will always be non-alcoholic alternatives. If you don’t want something alcoholic, you can ask whether something is “vintage” or not. Vintage means non-alcoholic in this scenario.
Age: You must be 18 years or older to play Mayfair.
Bus: We will provide a player bus that leaves from the central train station, Hlavni nadrazi, which can be reached by the direct airport shuttle. It will be leaving at around 10:30 on the respective starting days.

Social Media:
For hype and questions before the larp, we will be using the Atropos Discord server, where there will be a number of channels for those who have gotten a spot at the larp. However, you do not need to participate in this before the larp if you’d prefer to do all your calibration on-site. All important information will also go out via email. You can reach us at mayfair@atropos.se

Dancing:
During the larp there will be historical dancing (1600s, 1700s, and 1800s) every evening. It will be workshopped on-site. We hope to also provide you with the specific dances before the larp, so that you can practice at home.

The Sign-Up Process:
The first round of sign-ups was open from the 13th to the 27th of December. A few days after that we will send out a flagging email. In mid January you will find out whether you have a spot at the larp, or whether you are on the reserve list.

When it comes to flagging, this is the system we’ll use:
Green flag: 1–3 people you’d especially like to play closely with. Green flags do not affect your chances of getting into the larp but they can affect your casting. When casting we will prioritise the green flags that go both ways.
Yellow flag: I do not want to be connected to this player at the larp but it’s perfectly fine that they’re there. In these cases we will place you in different families and different romance groups.
Red flag: I cannot be in the same run of the larp as this player. If you think a player is a safety issue for the larp in general, we ask you to elaborate on this so that we can make our own decision about their participation. However, no one is automatically banned because they receive a red flag.

If you get a spot at the larp you will also receive your casting, which will hopefully be enough information for you to be able to put together a costume. We will also let you know more details about the larp bus from Prague.

At the end of June you will receive your full characters as well as additional fiction information. The month before the larp you will receive a last sendout with practical information and last minute fiction information.

Who gets in:
Spots at the larp are primarily assigned through lottery (random draw). However, we will be guaranteeing a certain amount of spots for Czech larpers, as well as specifically casting for certain characters. The divide here is about 75% lottery, 25% casting. It does not matter when you sign up between the 13th to the 27th of December. After the initial casting round, all new signups are added to the same draw pot, so you do not need to opt in again for being on the reserve list. A couple of months before the larp we will send out a form to check if you are still available for the larp or not.

How much:
Sponsor fee: €645 (+€15 Stripe fee) – Two sponsor fees will pay for one additional subsidised spot. If you drop out after paying for a sponsor ticket we can only reimburse you up to €445 since your sponsor fee has been used to already subsidise a ticket.
Standard fee: €495 (+€10 Stripe fee)
Subsidised fee (16 available in total): €195 (+€5 Stripe fee)

Subsidised tickets go to people:

  • From the Czech Republic.
  • From low-income countries.
  • Who are currently unemployed, students, or on sick leave.
  • Who work a low-income job or are self-employed with a low salary.
  • Who do not have any other international larps planned during 2025 and would not be able to afford to go at the regular price.

We will not ask you for details about why you need a subsidised ticket since we are using an honour system. Everyone who applies for one will have an equal chance for ten of the tickets. However, since we are running the larp in the Czech Republic, we wanted to make sure that we earmarked a number of subsidised tickets for local larpers. Therefore, at least six of the sixteen subsidised tickets will go to Czech larpers.

Payment deadlines: Deposit of €50 to be paid when accepting the spot (or at the latest by the 31st of January). The rest of your ticket is due three months after accepting the spot (30th of April). It is possible to pay in installments if you reach out to us via email. Payments will be done using Stripe.

Refund policy: Your participation fee contains a €50 non-refundable deposit. If you drop out at any point of the larp at any point before the 15th of August, we will refund you everything except for your deposit, unless you have a sponsor ticket, where we will refund you €445. From the 16th of August to the 16th of September we will refund you €100 if you drop out. After that we will not be able to offer refunds since we will need to prioritise getting reserves in who will fit the character, rather than the ones who can pay for their tickets.

Photo policy: We will have a photographer on-site for the larp. Once they are done with their pictures we will send them out to participants who will have one week to screen them and ask to have pictures of themselves removed. After that date photos can be shared with correct attribution. The photographer retains the right to their photos, but we will post a selected album on Facebook which can be used to illustrate potential articles about the larp.

Costume

Mayfair is not a larp that requires historically accurate costumes. However, we ask you to adhere somewhat to the regency silhouette. You also do not need historic underwear, or multiple outfits to play this larp. You can play this larp with one outfit that you have scrambled together. Still, some people show their excitement for a larp by crafting and sewing, and this is also absolutely fine.

With that said, here is what you will need to play the larp:
Female characters: A dress, potentially jewellery, shoes to wear outside and inside, gloves for the afternoon and evening.
What could be nice for female characters: A notebook, a second dress (so you have a day dress and an evening dress), a tiara or big feather to put in your hair, a fan and reticule. Painting supplies or embroidery projects, in-game undergarments.

Male characters: Breeches or pantaloons (modern slacks can work in a pinch), a tailcoat, shirt, vest, shoes to wear inside and outside, and a cravat or small scarf to tie around the neck.
What could be nice for male characters: Fake flowers to woo a girl, poetry books, painting supplies. A top hat, gloves, a second set of any clothing items to change between day and night, riding boots.

Soon, we will also have a pinterest to show you the general vibe of costuming here!
